Course Info
This is a Hybrid Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course (HWRC) with 8 hours of self-paced, online work followed by 16 hours or 2 days in person learning. The online section is emailed to you and available on Canvas approximately one month before the classroom section begins and consists of reading, case studies, videos, animations and quizzes. The online material must be completed by the start date of the classroom section.
Classroom and Location
This WRC course is taught under the beautiful red cliffs of the Animas River Valley 10 minutes north of downtown Durango. It is taught in our Wilderness Classroom, a large wall tent heated by a wood burning stove, surrounded by the pines.
About the Curriculum
Creeks to Peaks partners with the renowned Desert Mountain Medicine to teach the most up to date wilderness medicine standards. DMM is a part of the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative (WMEC) which sets the industry standards for all Wilderness Medicine courses. Taking a course through Creeks to Peaks means you are receiving the highest quality education and your certification will be recognized by NOLS, WMTC, WMA, and all the major providers. This course is a Desert Mountain Medicine and Creeks to Peaks Rescue collaboration that will be held at the Bar D Chuckwagon in Durango Colorado. Onsite camping is included in course cost.
